Our **Basic combination sharpening stone 180/600** is the perfect sharpening stone when you need to sharpen blunt, or even damaged knives. The sharpening stone is made from ceramic bound aluminium oxide. This is a rock-solid material with which you quickly get results!

The extra-coarse side has a grain size of 180. With it you quickly remove any damage done to the edge or adjust the sharpening angle of your knife. With the 600 side you sharpen blunt, but undamaged knives. This grain size is enough if you use your knife for many demanding tasks and razor-sharp results are not what you are looking for. Looking for good results for fine, less demanding tasks? We recommend you continue with the Skerper Basic 1000/300 combination sharpening stone.

## Use
The sharpening stones from the Basic collection are water stones. This means you have to submerge them in water a couple minutes before use. This also means that as you use the stone you need to keep it wet by constantly adding water to the surface. As you sharpen your knife you will see a slurry emerge. This slurry is there for a reason! It will sharpen your knife. If you don't use water you won't create a slurry. This means that your sharpening stone will wear out faster and that the sharpening results are not nearly as good as when you do use water!
