The **Basic sharpening kit with ceramic sharpening steel** is the perfect kit when you want to start sharpening your own knives. With this set you will have all products you need to quickly get started. It is comprised of two combination sharpening stones and a ceramic sharpening steel.

The 180/600 stone is the perfect sharpening stone when you need to sharpen blunt, or even damaged knives. With the 1000/3000 combination sharpening stone you can make sure you end with razor-sharp results. The stones are made from ceramic bound aluminium oxide. This is a rock-solid material with which you quickly get results! With the ceramic sharpening steel you make sure your knives stay sharp in between maintenance.

## Use
The sharpening stones in this set are water stones. This means you have to submerge them in water a couple minutes before use. This also means that as you use the stone you need to keep it wet by constantly adding water to the surface. As you sharpen your knife you will see a slurry emerge. This slurry is there for a reason! It will sharpen your knife. If you don't use water you won't create a slurry. This means that your sharpening stone will wear out faster and that the sharpening results are not nearly as good as when you do use water!

You don't need water to use the sharpening steel. You will, however, notice that metal particles stick to the sharpening steel. These particles reduce the effectiveness of the sharpening steel. However, not to worry, you can easily remove them by cleaning the steel with water and a cloth or sponge.
